London School of Economics: Policy in Practice seminar

I gave a seminar as part of the Policy in Practice series for the Master of Public Administration (MPA) course at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

My main theme was around the link between policy delivery and large transformation programmes that are increasingly enabled by technology. This was a bit different from most of the other subject matter in the course, and I was impressed by how many detailed and interesting questions the students asked.

The Master of Public Administration is an in-depth two-year degree programme designed to equip early-stage professionals with the core analytical skills, practical tools and professional experience to confidently address real-world policy challenges.

The sessions were introduced by visiting professor Paul Kirby, a former partner at KPMG and global head of public services and government. In his career, he has been head of the Number 10 Policy Unit, as well as working in the media, education, transport and urban regeneration sectors. Paul was a Director of Bethnal Green Ventures and a Non-Executive Director of the Cabinet Office. He is a founder and managing partner of Zinc.
