One of my first jobs when I joined the Government Digital Service (GDS), was to lead the creation of the new Government Transformation Strategy, which was finally announced on 9 February 2017 by Minister for the Cabinet Office, Ben Gummer MP in his speech at the Reform think-tank (now known as Re:State).
This strategy was the result of a very strong collaborative process with digital teams across Whitehall, who all had the chance to contribute to the development of this new strategy and constructively challenge the role of GDS in helping to deliver their departments’ priorities going forward. The strategy was signed off by ministers of all government departments.
The strategy was fully ready in December 2016 but due to … reasons … was published in 2017.
I worked on other cross-government digital transformation efforts in my work at the Cabinet Office.
